The Story of Can"t Resist
Do we really need another story about a divorced woman in her late forties that is starting her life all over again? Yes, I think we might! It's the struggle, emotions, determination and the success that can inspire us to do what we love! I have been inspired by the stories like these.
My name is Debbie.
My story starts about 20 years ago when I had an idea for a new product line.
All of my life I have suffered with allergies.
A lot of the ingredients in commercial soaps, lotions and makeup would cause my skin to become red, broken out and so irritated that it would hurt! The worst part was that it affected my face more than anywhere else...
and you can't hide your face! I have worked in retail since I was a teen ager.
Imagine how awkward I felt speaking to a client, knowing that they were looking at my horribly red, bumpy skin.
I was so self conscious! Like many others, I bought every product that claimed that it would clear up my skin.
Unfortunately, these products never performed the way they said they would.
I was frustrated.
One day while looking through my kitchen pantry an idea started to grow.
I saw a lot of natural ingredients that were good for you...
both inside and out! I began to blend and whip and cook these items together in different combinations.
Suddenly I discovered a face scrub that made my skin happy! I even discovered a lotion that did wonders for my knees, feet and elbows.
Wow, natural products that actually worked! I was thrilled.
I then did what most wives would do..
..
I told my husband about my discovery.
Much to my surprise, he thought it was all very silly.
I couldn't convince him that my new products were a great idea.
Tired of the arguments that these products had created, I decided to put away the recipes and notes and restore peace to the household.
Though my notes were hidden away, new ideas never stopped popping into my mind.
Then one day, I simply decided that enough was enough.
It was time to change the direction of my life.
I divorced the discouraging husband and started my business...
"Can't Resist"! The divorce left me with a pile of bills and no money.
So I searched the house and my piggy bank for loose change.
Then I went shopping for all the natural ingredients that I could afford.
In no time I was blending and experimenting.
I got everyone I knew to try each recipe I created.
Their feedback and comments helped me fine tune each product until...
eventually I had the items that became the foundation for my line! And that's how "Can't Resist" was born! Does this story have a happy ending? I think it will.
I am a single, not-so-young woman who is struggling to take care of her family.
High paying positions are not available in the rural area that I live in.
So I work a full time job and a part time job just to make ends meet (about 70 hours a week).
I am also building a business with no extra time or money...
in an economy that could not be worse! Is it a struggle? Yes, yet, I couldn't be happier! Everyone enjoys my line.
Those with allergies and those with normal skin! I love that I am making people happy! The orders are trickling in and so are the comments and compliments.
I am working very hard but I am finally doing something that I truly enjoy! Making drastic changes is scary.
I took my fear and turned it into anger.
Then I let that anger drive me toward my goal.
I have pushed past the anger and now I am heading straight for satisfied and proud.
Along the way, I have joined several business websites.
I try to assist others by answering their questions or simply offering support.
If I can even help one person succeed that would be awesome! So...
maybe one more story about a divorced woman in her late forties is just what we need!
