Why Reading Helps You Relax
A few months ago I was going through a tough time in my life.
I was very stressed out and it didn't matter what I did, it would not go away! I tried a lot of different stress relief techniques, none of which seemed to work.
In fact trying these "stress" relief techniques and having them not work just caused more stress in my life.
It was when I was talking to a good friend of mine that I discovered the secret to staying stress free.
My friend and I have known each other for pretty much since we were born.
We had always been interested in reading books.
We constantly would make recommendations to each other about what was a good book to read.
Well while we were talking he could not stop talking about this book he had just read.
So later that day all I could think about was this book.
I went to the local book store and picked up a copy.
I then got home and I started to read.
When reading this book I learned a few things really quickly.
It was really hard for me to concentrate on anything other than the book.
Because it sparked my interest I found it difficult to think about anything else.
I realized real quick after just a few chapters that this whole process was helping me relieve the stress that had been on my mind for a few months now.
So I continued to read.
Reading has now become part of my daily routine and is a reason I am able to stay stress free.
Some tips about reading for stress relief: Find a quiet place to read.
Try reading where it is very quiet.
The less distractions the better, because it will make it easier for you to concentrate on your reading.
Find a comfortable reading spot: Find a place that is well lit and very comfortable for your reading.
This is a great way to stay relaxed and enjoy your reading more.
Find a book you will love: Ask your friends for suggestions on books.
Try to look up some books you may like online.
Finding a series is great because it will keep you busy for a long time.
Reading is a great way to reduce your stress levels.
If you have tried all of the normal ways of relieving stress and they are not working then try reading a book.
