How to use an Oregon Wireless Cooking Thermometer
- 1). Insert the two AA batteries into the transmitter unit in the battery compartment. Press "Reset" to activate the unit.
- 2). Insert the two AAA batteries in the battery compartment of the receiver unit.
- 3). Press the power button on the main until "Lang" icons begin flashing on the LED screen. Press the "Lang" button to choose the language--English, French, Spanish or German--of your choice. This step only applies to the talking version of the Oregon Scientific wireless thermometer.
- 1). Connect the probe unit to the transmitter by plugging the jack into the connector.
- 2). Insert the probe into the meat you are cooking, taking care to center the probe halfway through the meat in the thickest portion. Place the transmitter unit outside the oven or the grill, allowing only the probe wire to remain inside the cooking area.
- 3). Press the "Meat/Up" button to choose the type of meat you are cooking. You will be given choices such as beef, pork, turkey, hamburgers and others.
- 4). Press the "Cook/Down" button to select the desired doneness of the meat: rare, medium, and well-done. The desired finish temperature will appear on the LCD screen.
- 5). Start cooking the dish, either in the oven or on the grill. Listen for the alert to sound on the receiver. The first alarm will sound with two beeps when the dish is almost done; four beeps will sound when the dish is done.
