Finding Kindness, Beauty and Truth Every Day
"The ideals that have lighted my way and, time after time, have given me new courage to face life cheerfully have been Kindness, Beauty, and Truth.
"Albert Einstein We have many opportunities throughout the day to experience kindness, beauty and truth - yet how often do we miss these occasions because we are focusing on the unkind, the ugly and the untrue? Here are a few ways to consider how you can incorporate the power of kindness, beauty, and truth.
KINDNESS:On our way to Cedar Point, we stopped at the store to pick up some Dramamine (for my husband, of course).
I ran into the store while Scott waited in the car.
A couple with a cart massively full of groceries was in front of me.
I smiled and asked if I could go before them, as I "had only one item and was paying with cash.
"Not only did they let me through, we struck up a conversation and they wished us a fun day.
A small, but very much appreciated act of kindness that started the day on a good note.
How often do you let someone in front of you in line at the grocery store?Do you wave when someone lets you into traffic?Do you allow others to merge? There are so many little things we can do to be kind.
These actions don't take a lot of time or cost money, and we make the world a kinder place by doing them.
BEAUTY:As we sat in our backyard late one afternoon, a family of deer came for a visit including two moms and three babies - still with their spots.
Instead of shooing them away because of the damage they have done to our yard already, we sat back and just enjoyed these gentle, beautiful creatures.
Take a memory break right now and think about the beauty that you have beheld in your life.
Have you witnessed the majesty of Niagara Falls or the magnificence of the Grand Canyon? What about the exquisiteness of your own back yard? The only purpose of beauty is for us to enjoy it, so take some time to appreciate splendor today.
TRUTH seems elusive, as we try to sort through the vast amount of information which we are exposed to every day.
(After all, if it's on the internet, it's true, right?)I have found that when I take the time to go into the silence and meditate, I am able to find my own truth, and my days are better because of it.
Finding your own truth is your purpose in life.
What do you love to do?Are you doing it? If not, why not? Before you go into the silence ask yourself for guidance in discovering your truth and start to look for ways that you can move towards your dreams.
When you go to bed at night, ask the same question.
Keep a notepad by your bed so you can record any revelations when you awaken.
(Do this right away, or you will forget these intuitions.
We can always find our genuineness if we take the time to ask for it.
The next step is to have the courage to move forward in your reality - no matter what anyone else thinks.
What can you do TODAY to find kindness, beauty and truth in your life? Have fun, Lisa It's the little blessings that bring us the greatest joy - when we take the time to notice them.
