Chemex Directions
- 1). Unfold a Chemex coffee filter so that it forms a cone and three layers are on one side of it. Insert the filter into the top of the Chemex coffeemaker. Arrange it so that the thicker layers are facing the spout.
- 2). Add ground coffee to the filter. Use 1 tbsp. of coffee per 5 oz. of water, or add more according to your taste.
- 3). Pour the amount of water you wish to brew into a pot. Place it on a stove burner and bring the water to a boil.
- 4). Remove the pot from the heat.
- 5). Pour just enough water into the filter to barely cover the grounds, without allowing them to float.
- 6). Wait for the water to drain out of the filter, and then continue adding more water. The grounds may float after the first soaking, but keep the water level below the top of the filter. Your coffee is ready when the water has finished draining into the carafe.
- 7). Allow the filter to cool before lifting it and disposing of it.
