Self Esteem - Awareness of Our Sub-Conscious Thinking And Our Self Esteem

103 23
Many of us have points in our lives where we feel as though other people have it better than we do.
We somehow think that they are more important and that we are not that important ourselves.
Some keep this thinking with them for many years in their life.
They watch everyone else succeed, missing opportunities in their own lives to shine.
I overheard a teenage girl say, "I wish I was special".
She had just seen the whole line open up in front of her for a student in an electronic wheelchair as she was waiting in line to swipe in present to school.
I was standing behind her watching the whole scene.
I quickly informed her that indeed she WAS special and made it a point to look at her right in the eye when I said it.
There was a pause as our eyes remained locked together and I was sending her love during the exchange.
I said it one more time before I left saying a silent prayer for her that perhaps at some point in time or some day the words and the love would penetrate the shield of armor she had around herself.
I do not even know who she was.
I never saw her again either.
Upon reflection of this profound encounter, I realized several thoughts that people think about themselves before we really have a knowing that we have arrived into a healthy balance in our thinking about ourselves.
Here are some of them: 1.
Other people have it better than I do 2.
Other people are lucky.
They have things that I don't have 3.
Other people are lucky.
They get to do things that I can't do 4.
I am alone in my feelings and that nobody else thinks the way I do 5.
Sure there are things that I am good in but it is not enough to succeed 6.
I am not good enough 7.
I wish I could be like them Somehow, we trick ourselves into thinking negative thoughts like these and they stay in our sub-conscious mind.
Somehow, our psyche was damage at some point and we keep ourselves in an abyss even when people's hands are extended down to us to pull us up.
The good news is that it is possible if we want it to be so.
The key is all in what we are thinking.
Focus on the positive and be aware that things can change.
You never know who is standing behind you to lift you up.
