Time To Be A Parent
Being a parent is most definitely a job in its self, and if you're doing it right, you should know why it is.
Our children are faced with a number of distractions; not just the normal distractions (i.
e.
, friends, social life, academics, puberty) but the distractions of not having what it is they truly need to develop a sound foundation in who they really are.
Many of us take great pride in raising our children, but many of us also forget that a child needs both parents too, regardless of how we feel about the other parent.
As parents we have to understand, when we take the responsibility of bringing children into the world we have to ensure we provide them with the necessities in life; this includes diminishing bad habits and setting proper standards, values, and morals.
We're being watched by our children, and every choice we make influences them; good and bad.
You know one of the saddest things I have seen with parents and their children is when mothers use their children against the fathers; it has become quite typical, especially if the mothers are angry at the fathers for whatever reason.
Now, there are sadder things, but this particular behavior is probably the worst because it takes away from the child's right to have either his or her parent in their life.
Based on my experience there are usually two reasons why mothers play this game with the fathers: first, a bitter divorce/breakup, and Second, child support.
But their malicious behavior only truly affects the child.
Now, let us discuss the word malicious- malicious is defined as spiteful, vicious behavior for a certain purpose.
And when a mother decides that she has the right to interfere in a child's relationship with his father just because she is mad at the father- if that isn't malicious, I don't know what is.
When you bring a child into the world your first order of business is to ensure you raise your children with the proper nurturing.
Proper nurturing includes love, support, protection, and encouragement despite the circumstances.
Properly nurturing children allows a level of self-esteem and resilience that will help them through some of the toughest times.
See, when divorce or break-ups occur where children are involved, the real focus is on the children.
As a parent we don't have a right to force our opinions and judgments on our children.
Our break-ups or divorces are our life and shouldn't be shared to a point it causes bitterness from the child.
You know when your child has the proper level of nurturing; despite how hurt you are, they are still able to keep a close and loving relationship with their fathers.
Being a parent is difficult, and many times we have to make decisions that are tough, but as long as it is fair everything will turn out the way it's supposed to.
Don't destroy your child's life by taking their fathers out of the picture.
Right is right; wrong is wrong; either way it will catch up to you, and it does affect the child.
So, do the right thing and allow your children to have their own opinions and allow them to make their own decisions; don't force them to take a side.
See, divorce is not something people want to do once they get married, but we have to be realistic; it happens.
And many times it happens, children are involved; however, divorce doesn't destroy the child, the parents behavior destroys the child.
