    • 1). Apply a facial primer to set the base for the foundation. Primers serve as a foundation base so the makeup goes on smoothly and flawlessly.

    • 2). Squeeze cream foundation onto a makeup applicator and apply to the face. Cream foundations provide a flawless finish to the face and helps to avoid drying the skin. Most cream foundations are available in several undertones, such as brown, olive, yellow or pink. The foundation should blend into your natural skin tone.

    • 3). Apply an under eye concealer with highlighting pigments to the area under your eye. This will not only conceal dark circles but reflect light to erase any puffiness or bags under the eye area.

    • 4). Define eyebrows with regular tweezing or waxing. As you age your eyebrow hairs may grow more slowly. Fill in any areas with an eyebrow pencil or powder. The filler should mimic the same color as your natural shade. If you are undecided on a color, then always go darker.

    • 5). Sweep a nude or light taupe shadow over your lids from your lash line to the crease in the center of your eye. Select a shade slightly darker than the first shade for an accent shade. Sweep the accent shade from the center of your lid to the upper-outer corner, just under your brow bone.

    • 6). Line the upper lash line with a dark brown or black eyeliner. Start at the inner corner of the eyelid and work the pencil until you reach the outer corner. Slightly pull the eyeliner up at the outer corner to create a winged appearance. Blend the accent eye shadow into the corner of the eye so it is flush with the winged liner. Apply a coat of brown or black mascara to both the upper lashes and lower lashes.

    • 7). Apply a small dab of pale peach or pink blusher to the apples of your cheeks. Using your fingertips, blend the blusher upwards toward the ear. The blush should blend naturally into the skin so it is not noticeable. Because the eyes are darker, use only a small amount of blush.

    • 8). Brush a thin layer of translucent powder over your T-zone to conceal shine. This area is found along the bridge of your nose and above both eyebrows.

    • 9). Line thin lips with a nude lip pencil. Follow the natural lip line around the entire mouth. Do not draw outside the natural lip line, as this will look unnatural. Fill the lips in with a coordinating neutral shade of lipstick. Blot the lips on a clean cloth and apply a thin coat of gloss.
