How to Do Pretty Hair Buns
- 1). Spray hair lightly with water and comb through to remove any tangles. Apply a quarter-size amount of styling gel to your hands and rub together. Work the gel through your hair with your fingers.
- 2). Pull hair into a high ponytail at the crown of your head using your hands, not a comb. Using your hands will contribute to the loose, messy appearance of the bun. Secure the hair with a ponytail holder. If bangs are too short to pull into a ponytail then leave them be until the end of the hairstyle.
- 3). Grasp the ponytail and pull it straight upward. Twist the ponytail until it begins to coil downward naturally. Wrap the ponytail around the base of the ponytail holder. As you twist, secure the ponytail with bobby pins. Tuck in any stray pieces or secure with additional bobby pins.
- 4). Comb bangs upward and back-tease to add height. Spray the roots lightly with hairspray and pull back gently, toward the bun. Push the bangs forward to add height to the area and secure with bobby pins. The end result will be a poufy bang.
- 5). Add accessories to the hair by wrapping a headband or two around the area between the bangs and bun. Use the long end of the comb to carefully insert into the crown area and pull the hair upward. This will create a messy appearance. Spray the hair to secure.
- 1). Spray hair lightly with water and comb through to remove tangles. Squeeze a quarter-size amount of styling gel into the palms of your hand and rub hands together. Work the gel through your hair from the tips of the hair upward to the roots. Comb through the hair to distribute evenly.
- 2). Comb hair downward to one side of your head, just below the ear. Typically, when creating a side-bun the bun is fastened to the side of your head that is opposite of your part line. For instance, if you part your hair on the right then secure the ponytail under your left ear.
- 3). Smooth the sides and back of your hair with a comb to tame flyaways. Secure shorter hairs that will not fit into the ponytail with hair clips or bobby pins.
- 4). Pull the ponytail straight outwards. Twist the ponytail with both hands until it begins to coil downward. As you twist, wrap the hair in a bun around the base of the ponytail holder. Secure the hair with bobby pins to your scalp. Tuck in any loose ends or pin with bobby pins.
- 5). Spray the entire hairdo with hairspray to secure to your head.
