    • 1). Place the belt buckle blank face down on a scrap piece of wood. Look at the buckle to determine whether it sits flat against the wood. If not, pound it gently with a hammer until it sits flat.

    • 2). Hold the belt buckle in front of you as if you were wearing a belt, noting the position of the metal loop and the hook. Reposition it, if necessary, until the buckle faces the way you prefer when fastening your own belts. Note this preferred position.

    • 3). Cut the cable off the NES controller where the cable meets the controller. Discard the cable or save it for a different project.

    • 4). Set the NES controller facedown on the work surface. Position the belt buckle blank facedown atop the controller, centering it on the controller. Recall which direction the buckle faced in Step 2 based on your own preferences and reposition the buckle if necessary. Lift the controller and look at the button positioning to ensure it will display in the desired position for your belt buckle. Rotate the controller if needed.

    • 5). Lift the buckle off the controller once you have determined proper positioning for each. Apply some of the strong glue to the buckle face, or to both the buckle and controller if the glue instructs you to apply glue to both surfaces. Use enough glue to adhere the surfaces together without excess glue squirting out from between them. Press the buckle facedown onto the back of the controller in its ideal centered position. Hold and press in place for a few seconds, then allow to set until glue has completely dried. Read the glue package for recommended drying times.
